HGC‬ Swing Focus: Pranav Kaul

In this edition of ‪#‎HGC‬ Swing Focus, we take a look at ‪#‎PGTI‬ Pro Pranav Kaul. Pranav’s athletic abilities are well known on the tour as he hits the ball a country mile. He is currently training under Donny Lee, a PGA Professional Coach based in Windermere, Florida.

PK, as he prefers to be called, has his eye set on becoming the World’s No. 1 golfer and is training hard for the Asian Tour Qualifying School to be held in January, 2016.

He enjoys practicing at Hamoni Golf Camp’s ‪#‎AcePen‬ with ‪#‎Titliest‬‪#‎ProV1x‬ balls. As he uses the same balls on the tour, he is able to use precision in his practice sessions.

HGC FITNESS FRIDAY: Cable External Rotation

BEND. HOLD. ROTATE.

Set cable arm(s) low. This exercise can be done with single or double arms. Stand facing away from the machine and cross the cable(s) in front of you. Hold the cable in the further hand. Keep elbow tucked at your side and bend the elbow to 90 degrees. Now, rotate outwards- pause, and then return to the starting position. If doing one arm at a time, reverse the setup to exercise with the other arm.

Reps: 12-15
Sets: 2 (each side)
Level: Easy
Location: Home / Gym

Target body parts are shoulder and back region. The exercise generally helps in strengthening shoulder muscles for golf swings and eases shoulder mobility. It is a good exercise for warm up before an intense golf session.

HGC FITNESS FOCUS: EXPLOSIVE EXERCISES

In most of the athletic sports, athletic movements need to be performed at high speeds. Fast movements such as sprinting and rapid jumps typically involve contraction times of 60-250 milliseconds. But it takes a longer time for muscles to develop the maximum force required. Hence, short bursts of increase in force exerted develops explosive strength. This video on some explosive strength will demonstrate regular vertical jumps and leaps which fits the definition of maximizing force in a much shorter span of time, triggering muscles to react faster. DO NOT attempt these exercises without proper supervision or safety precautions.
